let’s complete redetermination—
together

For our Community Partners

We’re here to help everyone renew their Medicaid coverage.

Our community partners are in a unique position to help more people keep their health coverage during redetermination—and we’re dedicated to supporting them every step of the way. Because when more people get the care they need, our whole state can live healthier.

What is redetermination?

Redetermination is how Medicaid beneficiaries can renew their healthcare coverage.
Every year, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) conducts a review of all Medicaid beneficiaries’ finances and family situations. This review, called redetermination, is to ensure that beneficiaries still qualify for Medicaid coverage.

Redetermination was on pause during the COVID-19 public health emergency. Redetermination started back up in April 2023, and all beneficiaries will complete this process by June 2024.
